» The EB-5 Visa & Regional Center Investing

Immigrant Investors may qualify for a green card by investing $500,000 in a high unemployment area and hiring 10 persons or by investing $1,000,000 anywhere and hiring 10 persons. Immigrant Investors must maintain their U.S. investment for 2 years. Many people have the required capital but don't want to hire 10 employees.

If one invests in an INS designated project called a Regional Center, INS waives the 10 employee requirement. In this case the Regional Center operator or manager will direct the investment activities. There are some 10 or so active Regional Center's in the U.S. The projects as well as the terms and conditions of the investment differ.

The regional center program offers convenience in that one need only make a payment. There's no need to hire employees or to manage an investment in a foreign country. On the other hand one should undertake an investigation of regional center managers and their investment scheme.
